A
course designed to help equip students for youth ministry in two areas:
long-term youth ministry in a foreign culture and U.S. Campus ministry to
international students.
Course Objectives
The
student who successfully completes this course, in keeping with the college
mission, will be able to demonstrate the following specific course
objectives:
In Spirit
 |
To seek the Lord's will
concerning possible future ministry in the area of international youth
ministry.

To develop a degree of
spiritual depth which would allow him/her to withstand set backs and
failures inherent to a pioneer ministry such as this.

 |
To develop a heart that
aches for the lost youth from every culture of the world.
|
In Attitude
 |
To respect cultural
differences among youth in different contexts/cultures (regarding family,
authority, environment, etc.)
|
 |
To uphold what is good,
beneficial, and "neutral" in contexts/cultures other than his/her own.
|
 |
To take risks and
"experiment" with youth evangelism and discipleship in a context different
than his/her own.

In Understanding
 |
To know what information
is needed to form a plan for youth ministry in a cross-cultural
setting. He/she should also know how to obtain this information.

To know some of the
complexities of cross-cultural contexts and what specific areas of culture
are important to cross-cultural youth ministry.
|
 |
To know the general
similarities and differences between youth of the world.
|
In Skills
 |
To analyze cultural
literature and statistical information in order to assess the need for
cross-cultural youth ministry in specific situations.

To formulate "possible"
approaches and strategies for cross-cultural youth ministry based on
available research.
|
 |
To utilize the available
human resources in assembling information needed for a successful
cross cultural youth ministry.
