J. K. Jones (the Preaching
Program Director) and Rondel Ramsey (the Youth Ministry Program Director)
worked together to create this hybrid program that truly arose from several
different needs. We felt it necessary to help prepare youth ministers
who could preach well and who would be prepared for a future transition into
the preaching ministry. And we noticed a need for preaching majors who
had a deep call of God to preach but wanted to use their younger years in
youth ministry. Besides the core classes in the Christian Ministries
Program, J. K. requires students to take three core preaching courses and
Rondel requires students to take three core youth ministry courses.
Because of its design and purpose, the program does not allow students to do
this under the General Ministry Program; students will take the two and half
years of the Greek language. It also limits any electives from the 130
required to six total credits. Students who chose to be in this
program are focused and committed to be the best prepared preaching/youth
ministers that they can be.
It is so important to make wise, informed
decisions when it comes to your education and ministry preparation.
Since our goal is to create disciple-making youth ministers/preachers, we want you to be
fully prepared for whatever ministry context God calls
you into.
Since we may not be every
youth ministry/preaching major’s advisor (we have other
YM/Preaching advisors), please go to the
