Adjunct
Faculty:
Position Description
:
Periodically Lincoln Christian College and Seminary hires
adjunct faculty to teach a specific class for a specific time period on a
specific subject. Ongoing adjunct faculty needs occur in all areas: our
traditional undergraduate College, our adult degree completion program called
LincUp, and our graduate Seminary. Teaching needs vary widely from
semester to semester but are often in one or more of the following areas:
Bible, English, Speech, Business, Children’s Ministry, Teacher Education, and
Psychology/Counseling. Our most frequent needs are for qualified
instructors who can teach one evening per week on our campus in Lincoln, IL,
usually for a 15-week period during either the fall or spring semesters.
The LincUp degree completion program, however, offers evening classes and
Saturday classes for 6-week periods, and the College and Seminary also offer
some one-week intensive courses in October, January, March, and May.
Professional Requirements
:
Adjuncts should have at least a
master’s degree in the discipline, with a doctorate preferred (required at the
graduate Seminary level). Experience in teaching in Christian higher
education and/or other relevant professional experience is also desired.
As a private, religious institution of higher education, Lincoln Christian College
and Seminary seeks faculty who support its mission, core values, and basic
beliefs, which are all found on our website (www.lccs.edu) under
“About Us.” Adjunct faculty must possess a mature Christian faith and be
able to demonstrate teaching competence, integration of faith and learning, and
a desire to help students preparing for some form of ministry in and out of the
church.
Application Process:
Send (1) a letter of application identifying what subjects
you are qualified to teach and in what area (College, LincUp, Seminary), (2) a
curriculum vitae, (3) copies of all transcripts, (4) a list of three
professional references whom Lincoln may contact, and (5) a brief response to
the school’s mission, core values, and basic beliefs. Most adjunct
positions are filled at least four months in advance of the class being taught,
so early application is important. Applications for adjunct positions in
the undergraduate College (including LincUp) should be sent to Dean Karen
Diefendorf, Lincoln Christian College, 100 Campus View Drive, Lincoln, IL 62656
or emailed to kdiefendorf@lccs.edu. Applications for
Seminary adjunct positions should be sent to the Seminary Office at the same
address or emailed to bboggs@lccs.edu. Applications of qualified
candidates will typically be kept on file for two years.
